Manganese for feed with large lumps, high-chrome where the feed is already small and the wear is pure abrasion. The gap between hammer and breaker plate, and the grate opening, decide the product size — but they also decide how hard the hammer is hit, which is why a hammer that wears out too fast is often a setting problem.
