Mantle, concave and bowl liner in one set: the mantle gyrates against the concave and the gap between them is the crusher's setting, so the three parts are a matched set and not interchangeable pieces. Manganese steel is chosen because it work-hardens under the load — Mn18Cr2 where the feed is coarse and the impact heavy, Mn13Cr2 where it is finer and abrasion dominates. Two things shorten life more than the material: a feed that is segregated to one side, which wears the chamber oval, and a setting closed below what the chamber was designed for.
