The triple offset is what lets a butterfly valve work at 425 °C: the disc leaves the seat on the first few degrees of rotation, so metal never rubs metal, and the seat only contacts at the last moment of closing. That is why it holds tight on steam and hot oil where a soft-seated butterfly would burn out. Laminated or solid metal seat, gearbox operation, DN80 to DN2000.
