Compare gate valve prices in Saudi Arabia only after the specification, documentation and delivery scope match. Our Saudi gate valve supplier guide, OS&Y guide and Saudi butterfly valve supplier guide treat pricing briefly; this article deals with price composition and quotation comparability alone. Use those guides for supplier checks, procurement procedures and selection comparisons, and use the checklist below to put quotations on a common basis.

What determines a gate valve quotation?

A DN and PN designation is a starting point, not a purchasing specification. Two quotations can carry the same nominal size and pressure rating and still cover different materials, operating arrangements, inspection requirements and delivery responsibilities.
| Cost component | What changes the quotation | What the buyer should specify |
|---|---|---|
| Size and pressure rating | Material quantity, wall thickness, bolt count and weight rise with size. Pressure rating also affects wall thickness and test pressure. | Exact DN and PN for each line item |
| Body material | Ductile iron QT450, identified as GGG40 in the listed specifications, and grey cast iron GG25 are different material options. | Body material designation |
| Trim | An EPDM-covered wedge differs from copper-alloy sealing faces on the wedge and seats with a stainless-steel stem. | Wedge, seat and stem materials |
| Coating | The coating system and thickness are easy to leave out of a quotation. | Whether FBE is required, and the specified thickness |
| Design and connection requirements | Different standard families mean different face-to-face dimensions, flange drilling, tooling and machining. | Design standard, required edition and connection drawing |
| Operation | Handwheel, rising stem, gearbox and electric actuator create different cost scopes. | Complete operating arrangement |
| Inspection and documents | Third-party witnessed testing and extra documentation can be quoted as separate items. | Test scope, witnessing and document schedule |
| Packing and shipment | Wooden cases, pallets, marking requirements and container loading all affect shipment cost. | Packing specification and delivery basis |
Which inspection, document and Saudi compliance costs are included?
Two technically similar valves can carry different quotations because their inspection and document packages differ.
For shell and sealing tests, state the test standard and required edition (API 598 or ISO 5208) together with the test pressures. Third-party witnessed testing is a separate cost item and belongs in the quotation as one.
For material documentation, EN 10204 3.1 documentation can be provided according to project requirements, subject to confirmation; 3.2 is subject to separate discussion. A general promise of "test certificates" is not confirmation of the document package you need.
Why CIF and DAP quotations are not directly comparable
Under Incoterms® 2020, CIF and DAP allocate transport costs and responsibilities differently.
A CIF quotation to Jeddah or Dammam is not on the same basis as a DAP quotation to a specified delivery address. Do not compare the totals until the remaining costs and responsibilities on each side are identified.
Packing needs a common basis too. Wooden cases and pallets produce different packing and loading arrangements, and shipping marks may add project-specific requirements. Gate valves are heavy cargo, so the container-loading plan has to be calculated on actual shipment weights.
For customs classification, valves fall under HS 8481.80. Confirm the specific subheading against the destination country's tariff rather than assuming a detailed code applies everywhere.
| Delivery basis | Included responsibility | Point to clarify |
|---|---|---|
| CIF, named destination port | The seller pays cost, insurance and freight to the destination port. Risk transfers at the port of shipment. | Destination-port charges and onward delivery scope |
| DAP, named destination place | The seller delivers to the named place, ready for unloading. The buyer handles import clearance and duties. | Exact delivery location, unloading and excluded charges |
A quotation comparison checklist

Use this checklist before deciding which offer is lower. Mark each item included, excluded or to be confirmed.
The main lesson: a quotation gap is not necessarily a valve-body gap. Trim, actuators, testing and documents, SABER responsibilities and trade terms can account for substantial differences.
| Question | What must match or be clarified |
|---|---|
| Is the DN and PN identical? | Do not compare different pressure ratings as equivalent offers. |
| Are the body and trim materials identical? | Check ductile iron against grey cast iron, EPDM against copper-alloy sealing faces, and the stem material. |
| Is the coating fully specified? | Confirm FBE where required, and whether thickness is stated. |
| Are the design and connection requirements aligned? | Check standard, edition, face-to-face dimensions and flange drilling against drawings. |
| Is the operating arrangement equivalent? | Confirm handwheel, gearbox or electric actuator. For electric operation, ask about on/off or intelligent control and emergency operation. |
| Is the inspection scope the same? | Confirm test standard, edition, pressures and third-party witnessing. |
| Is the document package equivalent? | Identify the requirement for 3.1 documentation and any separately discussed 3.2 requirement. |
| Are PC and SC responsibilities allocated? | State who arranges them and who pays. |
| Is the trade term identical? | Record FOB, CIF or DAP, the named location, and whether insurance, destination charges and unloading are included. |
| Is packing equivalent? | Confirm cases or pallets, marking requirements and the loading plan. |
| Are warranty and spare parts stated separately? | Identify the proposed warranty period and any wedge, sealing-ring or handwheel spares. |
| Are payment and production arrangements clear? | Record the payment terms and confirmed production schedule. |
How to request a comparable quotation
Send every supplier the same RFQ schedule. Searching for "gate valve price KSA" may find offers, but it does not tell you what those offers include.
Use this structure:
> Project and destination: Saudi Arabia; named destination port or delivery address.
> Valve schedule: Required quantity, DN, PN and operating arrangement for each item.
> Technical requirements: Body, wedge, seat and stem materials; coating system and required thickness.
> Dimensional basis: Design standard and required edition, flange drilling, face-to-face requirements and drawings.
> Inspection and documents: Test standard and edition, test pressures, witnessing requirements and material-document requirements.
> Compliance allocation: Proposed PC/SC responsibilities, supporting documents and fee allocation.
> Commercial scope: Requested Incoterms® 2020 rule and named location, packing, marking, warranty, spare parts and payment terms.
> Supplier response: Identify exclusions, deviations and items requiring confirmation separately.
Ask KINGNA to quote against that schedule rather than against a size description. Price, order quantity requirements, production scheduling and delivery arrangements are subject to quotation and confirmation, and may vary with batch quantity and production scheduling.
