Cold service is where a gate valve is the wrong tool: at −162 °C the seat has to control flow without chattering, and a globe plug does it with progressive travel. Extended bonnet keeps the gland at ambient; CF8M body and cryogenic-treated trim for LNG, LF2 and LF3 for the warmer cold duties. Used on send-out lines, cold-box letdown and loading arms.
