A wall-mounted steel gate that opens and closes an open channel rather than a pipe. In tender documents the same item appears as a sluice gate, a slide gate or a penstock. The frame is built to the channel opening with guide rails on both sides, the plate slides down onto a rubber seal at the sill, and a rising stem with a handwheel lifts it; depending on how far it is opened the gate works as a cut-off, a flow regulator or a level control. Stainless steel suits saline and corrosive water, epoxy-coated carbon steel suits normal municipal duty. Clear openings from 50 to 2000 mm, each one made to the measured channel dimensions. The head the gate has to hold is set by the channel design and must be stated with the order, because it fixes the frame section, the plate thickness and the operator size.
