The shank adapter is the joint between the drill rod and the bit, and it is the part that sees the piston's shock wave first: forged alloy steel, precision induction-hardened threads, male or female shank to the drawing. It cannot be chosen from a catalogue — the thread system (R32 to T60) has to match the string, the shank profile has to match the rock drill, and the length follows the machine's dimensions. A mismatched adapter shows up as a broken thread at the shank end within a shift.
