Rotary and piling tools work in a hole full of slurry and cannot be inspected between passes, so the wear allowance is built in and the geometry is fixed by the job: the centre cutter leads the bore and takes the impact, the rotary teeth open the diameter behind it. Shank Φ38 fits the standard holder; the carbide is the same family as the mining picks, but the body is what fails in piling — bent or worn shoulders mean the tool cuts off-centre and the pile goes out of tolerance.
